West Ham United’s latest Europa League victory on Thursday night has since given rise to an altogether impressive pair of statistics.
Bowen amongst the goals
David Moyes’ men returned to action a short time ago.
After getting the club’s post-international break endeavours off to a positive start courtesy of a 1-0 downing of Everton last weekend, the Irons turned their attentions back towards matters on the continent, in a meeting with KRC Genk.
And, when all was said and done at the London Stadium, West Ham’s stellar opening to the Europa League campaign only continued.
Another impressive display ultimately culminated in Moyes and co. emerging on the right side of a 3-0 scoreline.
Craig Dawson opened the evening’s scoring on the stroke of the interval, before a quick-fire double on the part of Issa Diop and Jarrod Bowen early in the 2nd-half ensured that all three points remained in the English capital.

Cresswell the set-piece specialist
And, as outlined above, on the back of the final whistle sounding at the London Stadium, an altogether noteworthy pair of statistics have since come to the fore online.
First, it was revealed that West Ham now stand as only the 2nd Premier League club to ever see out their opening three fixtures of a Europa League campaign with a perfect record, whilst boasting a trio of clean sheets:
3 – @WestHam are only the second English side to win each of their first three group games in a single UEFA Europa League campaign without conceding, after Spurs in 2013-14. The last team from any nation to do so won the competition (Sevilla in 2019-20). Omen. pic.twitter.com/7jwzOqhwIG

Not only that, but, after teeing up two of West Ham’s three goals this evening, it was confirmed that Irons stopper Aaron Cresswell has now bagged more set-piece assists than Bruno Fernandes, Kevin De Bruyne, or any other Premier League player since the beginning of last season:
