Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has asked club officials to sign Isco and Houssem Aouar in January, claims a report.
Arteta is looking for an attacking spark for his misfiring Gunners and wants both players to “revitalise” his side.
Arsenal sit in 15th place with just 1o goals scored in 12 Premier League games. It’s no secret as to where Arteta needs to strengthen and technical director has said as much.
“It’s quite clear what we need,” Edu said. “We need a player with creativity in the middle, we don’t have that in the squad right now.
“As a Brazilian, I’m very open. I’m not scared to say things. We are not comfortable in this situation we’re in. Every single club has problems.”
A report from Defensa Central claims that Arteta wants both Isco from Real Madrid and Aouar from Lyon, however they claim the club can only afford one.
Asked in October if he was disappointed that he didn’t seal a summer exit, Aouar replied: “I’m the opposite. I am at home, in the club that I love, with my friends and my family.
“So certainly I have all my bearings and it is giving me even more motivation to have a good season. I want to bring the club back to the top places in Ligue 1.
“There is a lot of motivation, we have a quality group, with a very good team. Most notably in attack with certain arrivals.
“We have satisfied with this team but now we are going to have to show it on the pitch a bit more than we have done at the beginning of this season.”
Isco salary
Meanwhile, Defensa Central exclusively claim, via sources close to Madrid, that Arteta has asked for both players. That apparently is not possible though after the Gunners spent big on Thomas Partey in the summer.
It means that the Spanish boss will have to make a decision on Aouar, whom he chased in the summer and Isco.
The latter is understood to be keen on a move but is struggling for offers due to his salary demands.
The 28-year-old is believed to be looking for a €6m-a-season deal and is not keen on lowering his demands.
