Arsenal given chance to lure attacking midfielder away from Serie A giants

Arsenal are hoping to tempt Hakan Calhanoglu away from AC Milan with the offer of more gametime ahead of Euro 2020, a report claims.

Calhanoglu has not quite met expectations at Milan since sealing a move there in summer 2017, and is said to be considering his future to keep his hopes of representing Turkey next summer alive.

According to The Mirror, Calhanoglu is ready to make way at Milan, with the club not standing in his way as he searches for more playing time.

The attacking midfielder, who had developed a reputation as a free kick specialist at previous club Bayer Leverkusen, has played 18 times in Serie A this season, but has only contributed two goals and one assist.

It is believed that Milan are willing to let him leave on loan, with Arsenal offering the 25-year-old the chance to revive his career.

With the Serie A giants uncharacteristically lingering in the bottom half for most of the first half of the season, they are in the process of reshaping their squad this winter, and have already brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic – but some players will be departing as well.

Arsenal have been linked with Calhanoglu as far back as the latter days of Arsene Wenger’s reign, before the Turkish international opted to join Milan.

More recently, West Ham and Leicester showed an interest in the summer, but neither followed up with a bid.
