“Absolutely ludicrous”: James Pearce reacts to idea of Liverpool selling ace in “peak years”

The Athletic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce has rubbished the idea of Liverpool selling Mohamed Salah this summer, per The Red Agenda (March 10th, 21:10).

What’s the word?

Salah was linked with a move to Real Madrid last month, with the Spanish giants again said to be on the hunt for a global superstar to sign.

El Desmarque reported that they could swoop for the Egypt international if they manage to offload Gareth Bale, with a potential £126m fee mooted.

Salah is valued at £130m by Transfermarkt but Pearce has scoffed at the idea of selling the 27-year-old any time soon.

He said: “Why would anyone want to seriously consider selling Salah?

“He’s coming into the peak years of his career as well.

“So the idea that you’d think of offloading him is just absolutely ludicrous.”

Can you name the result these iconic Liverpool images belong to? Give it a go now…

No-brainer

Yeah, Pearce has nailed this.

Salah is one of the best attacking players in world football and has notched up some astonishing numbers during his time at Anfield.

He has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season and, overall, has 91 goals to his name, along with 37 assists. That is 128 goal involvements in 143 games.

Salah would be a remarkably difficult player to replace, such is his incredible partnership with both Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane going forward.

Keeping him around should be the priority at the expense of everything else.

Meanwhile, there has been a positive Liverpool update relating to coronavirus!
