Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets – Playing Pompeii!

dalessandroegalli.com (http://www.dalessandroegalli.com/events/769/nick-masons-saucerful-of-secrets). The Teatro Grande is thought to have been built in the second century BC, carved into the lava mass on which Pompeii was originally built. It was one of the first permanent stone theatres in the Roman empire, and used to seat around 5,000. It was preserved – as the rest of the site was – by the devastating volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and these days for events caters for around 3,000 audience members. Should be a magical place to see the band in action on their 2023 Echoes Tour (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/nick-mason-s-sos-2023/index.php), which is also heading to Australia for a string of shows in September.

BBC Radio 2 marks 50 years of The Dark Side of the Moon today

“50 years of The Dark Side of the Moon” (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001jztg) will see Walker marking the golden anniversary of this landmark Pink Floyd album, which is released in a deluxe box set in a few days time (on Friday, 24th March) with an accompanying official book within the box and sold separately (including our special and very limited edition book and print set exclusive). In the almost two hour special, Walker will revisit his own archive interviews with the band, and there’s a new chat with Pink Floyd expert and writer Mark Blake. As we’ve mentioned elsewhere on this site, Blake’s fascinating and revelatory new book Us & Them charts the career of the Hipgnosis team, Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell, who created the iconic cover for the album and many other classic album artworks. The show will be live on BBC Radio 2, which is available on a variety of platforms, from 3pm UK time today, and after broadcast, on demand (hopefully worldwide) at this direct link at BBC.co.uk (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001jztg). Our thanks to Rob Sadler for the tip-off about this programme airing today!

Ronaldo´s stunning free-kick inspires Al Nassr comeback

Al Nassr were inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo’s excellent free-kick as they fought back to beat Abha 2-1. The 38-year-old picked out the bottom-left corner with his dipping effort, cancelling out Abdulfattah Adam’s 26th-minute opener. With […]
