West Brom were mightily impressive when beating Bristol City on Saturday.
The Baggies went down to 10 men in the second half, but you wouldn’t have noticed Romaine Sawyers’ absence due to the incredible shift his midfield partner put in against the Robins.
Indeed, Jake Livermore drew a lot of praise from the fanbase, and journalists were also very quick to fawn over the 30-year-old after his incredible showing.

His stats from Saturday show that he deserves every bit of praise coming his way, with the midfielder proving absolutely dominant in every single department.
Bristol City aren’t an easy side to beat, sitting seventh in the Championship, but Livermore made easy work of dealing with everything Lee Johnson’s side had to offer.
The former Spurs man made a staggering 11 tackles alongside one interception on Saturday, and despite being so determined when chasing the ball, he only made two fouls all game.
Alongside his defensive masterclass, the Baggies man was also a real threat going forward.
He made two key passes and played four accurate long balls, in what was an impressive all-round performance.
West Brom are nine points clear of third place in the Championship for a reason, and Livermore has been a huge help in the Midlands club’s promotion push.
The fact of the matter is that Livermore is simply too good for the second tier – he’s a former England international, and he made a playoff-contending side look like relegation fodder despite not having Sawyers alongside him in the middle of the park for a large portion of the game.
If Kalvin Phillips is being talked about for an England place, then Livermore should be in the conversation too. After all, the Leeds man only wins 0.5 more tackles per game than the West Brom midfielder’s 2.3.
Livermore certainly deserves more recognition.
In other news, Lee Peltier has offered up a verdict on one of his West Brom teammates.
