An insight into the reasoning behind the post-match scuffle between Wolves and West Ham United’s stars has been forthcoming this evening.
Lingard stars again
The final fixture of the Premier League gameweek of course played out at Molineux a short time ago.
The clash saw the aforementioned Wolves welcome the high-flying Hammers to the West Midlands, for a highly anticipated clash.
It was the visitors who headed into proceedings in much the better form of the two sides, in the knowledge that a victory would guide them clear of Chelsea to the dizzying heights of the top-4.
And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what West Ham managed.
An explosive opening half-hour on the part of the Londoners eventually proved just enough to guide David Moyes’ men to a crucial 3 points.
Jesse Lingard was first on target, carrying forth his scintillating spell of individual form with a wonderful solo effort:

This was swiftly followed by Pablo Fornals doubling West Ham’s advantage, before Jarrod Bowen put the Irons in dreamland with a 3rd shortly before the interval:

Wolves, to their credit, did come roaring back, and managed to pull within a goal of Moyes and co. courtesy of finishes from Leander Dendoncker and Fabio Silva.
In the end, though, the hosts’ efforts proved to be in vain, leaving the West Midlands outfit languishing in a lowly 14th in the Premier League table.
Neto’s jibe
For West Ham, on the other hand, the situation looks considerably rosier.
The capital outfit have now climbed into the top-4, meaning, if the campaign ended today, they would indeed shock the masses to bag a Champions League berth.
As outlined above, however, on an otherwise stellar evening for the Irons, one concerning moment was forthcoming following the full-time whistle.
This came when cameras at Molineux showcased a heated altercation erupting between Jesse Lingard and Wolves’ Pedro Neto, eventually resulting in the pair being separated by teammates.
The former was therefore inevitably drawn on the incident during his post-match interview, with an emphasis on what sparked the exchange of words.
And Lingard went on to reveal that Neto had taken issue with his style of play, in attempting to see out the visitors’ victory:
‘He said why do I play like that?’
