West Ham star insists he has the quality to play for Man Utd

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has spoken about links to Manchester United and believes he has the quality to play for the Red Devils.

The England international has previously been linked with moves to both Manchester clubs, although he penned a new deal at the London Stadium late last year.

However, interest still remains high in the 20-year-old – who has left the door open for a future transfer.

“Don’t get me wrong, I think I’ve got the ability to play for a club like that. But it’s all about the timing and I don’t think the timing is right for me at all. I’ve still got so much to learn,” Rice told FourFourTwo, when asked about links with United.

“I’m loving it at West Ham, the connection between me and the supporters is special. I’ve become one of the fans’ favourites and the manager likes me.

While his comments suggest he would still consider a switch to Old Trafford if the opportunity comes around again, he also added that a longer West Ham stay could be on the cards.

He added: “I’ve signed a contract here for the next few years and I’m looking forward to playing this season and the season beyond, so we’ll just see where it goes.

“To be called a West Ham legend in the future, maybe, would be a real honour.”
