Harvey Elliot continues recovery; video showing progress

Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliot is on the road to recovery and looking good in the process after video surfaced online of the 18-year-old academy graduate going through his programme as he slowly inches closer to a return.

Elliot suffered a fracture-dislocation of his ankle against Leeds United on 12 September and remains on an unknown timetable regarding his return to action but has faced the injury hurtle with maturity and drive, which has impressed veteran James Milner who was ‘blown away’ by the youngster;

“He’s been so positive from the start, to be honest. I was talking about mental strength before, as soon as it happened, the things he was saying, he talks like he’s been through it all before and he’s a 30-odd-year-old player.

He’s incredible. He’s got a great mindset, he’s done all his work, he’s progressing really well. Not too far off getting rid of the crutches, I think, which is fantastic.” Note: quotes via the club’s official website.

Certainly, the England U21 international will miss the vast majority of the season and given his age, is under no pressure to push through his recovery program well ahead of schedule given the state of the club. But the video clip will certainly be a welcomed surprise for the Liverpool fanbase after the youngster took to life at Anfield well in the early stages of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

Liverpool youngster in line for stardom despite injury

Though Harvey Elliot only had but a taste of what could be at Liverpool after the youngster cracked the Reds starting XI in the early doors of the current campaign before his untimely injury, his performances last season while on loan at Blackburn Rovers were proof positive that he had no where to go but up.

Elliot was immense for Rovers last term, establishing himself as a key asset at Ewood Park in the Championship during the 2020-21 Championship campaign while scoring 7-goals and adding 11-assists.

Despite his age, his status at Anfield has risen incredibly fast, with many hopeful that – should his recovery period go as smooth as possible – for Elliot to slot back into the preferred XI under Jürgen Klopp despite the club being linked with business for the likes of AS Monaco’s Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Still, Elliot looks set to follow in the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, and Neco Williams as youngsters who will make the grade at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
