Transfer Rumours: Richard Wigglesworth could make shock Championship switch

Saracens scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth could make a shock move to the Championship if he is released by Saracens at the end of the current season.

The 36-year-old, who has vowed to continue playing if he is released by Sarries, could be approached by Championship club Ealing Trailfinders, where the Premiership record appearance holder is already operating as attack coach.

Wigglesworth is reportedly keen to continue with his coaching career, which he’d easily be able to do by stepping down a division.

According to our sources, senior figures from the London club are keen to get the deal done as they look to promote their intent of reaching the Gallagher Premiership as rumours of ring-fencing England’s top tier continue to rage on.

The scrum-half would certainly bring a lot of experience to their side, winning six Premiership titles as well as three Heineken Champions Cup trophies throughout a highly successful career.

He’s also made 31 England appearances and has been to two Rugby World Cups, in 2011 and 2015.
