Tottenham, Celtic handed big lift in chase for £18m Ligue 1 striker

Tottenham, Aston Villa and Celtic strike target Serhou Guirassy is reportedly set to be sold by Ligue 1 club Amiens over the summer.

Despite not being the most prolific frontman in French football, the 6ft 2ins frontman is said to possess a number of traits that could him become a force in the Premier League.

Indeed, the Daily Mail reports that Spurs, Villa, Brighton and Leicester all watched the player net twice in a thrilling 4-4 draw with Paris Saint-Germain recently.

In terms of Celtic’s interest, Guirassy’s £18million price tag would see them struggle to compete with their Premier League rivals, but Le11Ameinois claims that the player will be available at the end of the season – barring an ‘incredible turnaround’.

The report states that the former Cologne youngster is not keen on committing his future to Amiens while the club are sitting just six points above the Ligue 1 relegation places.

It is claimed that the 23-year-old, who has scored eight goals in 23 games this season, is set to become the biggest export in Amiens’ history.

As for his most likely destination, Tottenham are expected to bring in another striker this season to avoid the disaster that has struck this time around when Son Heung-Min joined Harry Kane on the sidelines for the remaining months of the campaign – leaving them without a recognised frontman.

As for Celtic, their only hope of landing the player will be if the opt to cash in on Guirassy’s fellow countryman Odsonne Edouard.

Edouard is expected to attract plenty of interest this summer after so far scoring 26 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for Neil Lennon’s men this season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has ordered the club’s transfer chief, Daniel Levy, to complete the €65million summer signing of centre-back Dayot Upamecano, according to reports.

Spurs have strengthened in midfield and attack in the past 12 months with the likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Steven Bergwijn both moving to North London, but defence remains an issue. Read more…
