Rodgers incoming? Sudden major developments in Man United’s move to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Altogether out of the blue, word stemming from the English media on Saturday night has pointed towards Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers being lined up to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.

Reds continue to stutter

The subject of the hotseat at Old Trafford has of course taken centre stage in the media for several weeks now.

This comes as pressure continues to mount on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Norwegian tactician Solskjaer has overseen a less than impressive opening to the season on the red half of Manchester, despite the summer arrivals of all of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

A 2-0 defeat at the hands of cross-town rivals Man City last time out means that United entered the latest international break sitting 6th in the Premier League table, a full nine points adrift of table-topping Chelsea.

Not only that, but the Red Devils have also been ousted from the Carabao Cup, and required last-gasp heroics on the part of the aforementioned Ronaldo to remain in contention for a spot in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

Such woes, in turn, have seen calls amongst the United faithful begin to mount for the club’s boss to be sent on his way, to make room for a manager with a more proven track record.

Rodgers in/Ole out?

And, if the latest word doing the rounds in the media late on Saturday night is anything to go by, then those of such a persuasion could yet soon have their prayers answered.

As per a report from The Sun, Brendan Rodgers has begun house-hunting in Manchester.

The Leicester City boss is understood to be ‘looking for a new family home in football’s jet-set areas of Wilmslow and Alderley Edge’.

This comes as Rodgers inches ever-closer to replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

The Northern Irishman, according to Alan Nixon and Phil Thomas, has been identified as the no.1 choice to replace Solskjaer on the part of those in a position of power at the Theatre of Dreams.

It is even suggested that Rodgers could be installed in the Red Devils dugout before the season reaches next month’s festive period.
