Revealed: The six players – including Cristiano Ronaldo – called for crisis talks by Solskjaer ahead of Man United’s trip to Watford

No fewer than six Manchester United players were called into crisis talks with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Thursday, it has been revealed.

Ole’s woes

The subject of the dressing room at Old Trafford has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines of late.

This comes amid mounting speculation over the position of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, owing to an alarming drop in faith on the part of the Red Devils’ stars.

United have endured a frankly dismal campaign to date, which currently sees them sitting 6th in the Premier League table, a full nine points adrift of table-topping Chelsea with just 11 games played.

Not only that, but the Manchester heavyweights have also been ousted from the League Cup, and forced to rely on last-gasp heroics on the part of Cristiano Ronaldo to keep hopes of a place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League alive.

Ronaldo, for his part, is unsurprisingly one player understood to have already flagged up his concerns with the current situation at Old Trafford, with the Portuguese ‘shocked’ by the drop in standards since his return to the club.

Compatriot Bruno Fernandes, meanwhile, has been left feeling as though boss Solskjaer does not provide his players with a ‘clear plan’ of action when taking to the pitch.

Maguire & more called for talks

In turn, on Thursday, it should not come as too much of a surprise to hear of season-defining discussions getting underway between the coaching and playing staff at Old Trafford.

As revealed by Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail, earlier today, Solskjaer called six members of his squad into a private meeting at Carrington, for ‘crisis talks’.

The stars in question came in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and captain Harry Maguire.

It is understood that the United boss ‘wanted to discuss how United can turn the season around, and the tactical plan after switching to a back three in the last three games’.

It now remains to be seen whether Solskjaer’s latest approach has the desired effect, ahead of the Red Devils’ post-international break return to action in a Premier League meeting with Watford this weekend.
