Pundit calls rumoured Man Utd trio a ‘dream’; explains why Kane won’t sign

Paul Ince has said that Manchester United would be dreaming if they believe a front three of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Harry Kane would be possible to put together.

United added to their attack last summer by signing former Swansea winger Daniel James, to add extra firepower alongside Rashford and Anthony Martial.

In addition, youngster Mason Greenwood has stepped up impressively from the academy this season, scoring 14 goals, but boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly earmarked further attacking reinforcements as a transfer priority.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, while Tottenham marksman Kane has also been linked having admitted that his future in north London is uncertain.

However, speaking to Paddy Power (via the Daily Mirror), Ince explained why Kane is unlikely to join up with Solskjaer and why signing both him and Sancho would be unrealistic for Solskjaer.

“I cannot see Harry Kane to Manchester United happening,” Ince said. “I can see him going, yes, and wanting to leave Tottenham, but not to join United.

“People keep saying that, but what they keep forgetting is they’ve got Marcus Rashford up front. He’s always wanted to play up front, but what you need to remember is he can also play off the left-hand side, as we’ve seen from plenty of his goals this season.

“Plus, between him and Anthony Martial, Kane coming in would also bring some competition to the side. There’s always been a sense of competition at United, and it would be nice to see that back again, players fighting for their places.

“So if you’re looking at Rashford left, Kane centre and Jadon Sancho on the right. It sounds pretty nice doesn’t it?

“But it probably sounds like a dream for a reason, it is a dream.”

United realised their need for attacking reinforcements in January when Rashford suffered a double stress fracture in his back, leading to the loan signing of Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo.

The Nigerian has impressed so far at Old Trafford, but with his deal set to expire on May 31, it is unclear whether the Red Devils will extend his deal.

Indeed, it is uncertain whether Ighalo will be able to complete the Premier League if it is allowed to resume, with United said to be at an impasse with Ighalo’s parent club.
