With the release of the 2020 version (Restored. Re-Edited. Remixed.) of Delicate Sound of Thunder just under two weeks away, on November 20th, the band’s YouTube and social media channels have posted an unboxing video showing off the various editions. Those of you fortunate enough to have the Floyd’s Later Years box set will already know just how good the 2020 version is. This was a result of going directly to the more than 100 cans of original 35mm negatives, painstakingly restoring and transferring the footage to 4K. It was then completely re-edited by Benny Trickett under the creative direction of Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis. Similarly, the sound was completely remixed from the original multitrack tapes by longtime Floyd engineer Andy Jackson with David Gilmour, assisted by Damon Iddins. Suffice it to say that in the home setting, the quality is quite incredible and the new edit is great! The visual softness of the original VHS release is long gone, thank goodness, and this is as sharp and detailed as you could ever want, with vibrant colours, really showing off the visual aspect of the presentation. The video below initially has some comparison of the old and the new to show some of the differences, although the Blu-ray version is even starker in the difference in quality. You’ll be able to get hold of this release on Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD, 3-disc 180-gram heavyweight vinyl and as a deluxe 4-disc edition with bonus tracks. All editions feature 24-page photo booklets, with the 4-disc box edition including a 40-page photo booklet, tour poster and postcards. The 3LP 180-gram vinyl set includes 9 songs not included on the 1988 release of the album, while the 2CD includes 8 tracks more than its original release. It is bound to be a popular release for many, and pre-orders are now open for the various editions. You can order them through the following links, taking advantage of Amazon’s free pre-order price guarantee – should their asking price drop at any point between you ordering it, and release, they will automatically charge you the lowest price during that period! Ordering through our links also helps with BD’s ongoing running costs, and we really appreciate it: DELICATE SOUND DELUXE BOX: Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JF5MBN2/braindamage-20)Amazon UK (https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRDH4R2/braindamage-21)Canada (https://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JF5MBN2/braindamageon-20)Germany (https://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRDH4R2/braindamage0f-21)France (https://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRDH4R2/braindamageon-21)Italy (https://www.amazon.it/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRDH4R2/bradamonl-21)Spain (https://www.amazon.es/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRDH4R2/braidama01-21) DELICATE SOUND 3LP VINYL: Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JGYNQZ8/braindamage-20)Amazon UK (https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRCRN1L/braindamage-21)Canada (https://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JGYNQZ8/braindamageon-20)Germany (https://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRCRN1L/braindamage0f-21)France (https://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRCRN1L/braindamageon-21)Italy (https://www.amazon.it/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRCRN1L/bradamonl-21)Spain (https://www.amazon.es/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRCRN1L/braidama01-21) DELICATE SOUND Blu-ray: Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JGYNQZ9/braindamage-20)Amazon UK (https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRHTG2F/braindamage-21)Canada (https://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JGYNQZ9/braindamageon-20)Germany (https://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRHTG2F/braindamage0f-21)France (https://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRHTG2F/braindamageon-21)Italy (https://www.amazon.it/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRHTG2F/bradamonl-21)Spain (https://www.amazon.es/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRHTG2F/braidama01-21) DELICATE SOUND DVD: Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JLQLPBS/braindamage-20)Amazon UK (https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRC599Z/braindamage-21)Canada (https://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JLQLPBS/braindamageon-20)Germany (https://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRC599Z/braindamage0f-21)France (https://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRC599Z/braindamageon-21)Italy (https://www.amazon.it/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRC599Z/bradamonl-21)Spain DELICATE SOUND 2CD: Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JF5MBN1/braindamage-20)Amazon UK (https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRD62PW/braindamage-21)Canada (https://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JF5MBN1/braindamageon-20)Germany (https://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRD62PW/braindamage0f-21)France (https://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRD62PW/braindamageon-21)Italy (https://www.amazon.it/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRD62PW/bradamonl-21)Spain (https://www.amazon.es/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08JRD62PW/braidama01-21) And now…here’s a look inside the different editions. Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets – Bad Honnef gig moves to Cologne
Last week we updated the website when the news came through that the July 2nd gig at Bad Honnef, Germany, for Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets had unavoidably been changed to E-Werk in Cologne on the same day (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/nick-mason-s-sos-2021/june-5th-insel-grafenwerth-bad-honnef-germany-resched-2.html). The Saucers’ show was one of a number affected at the location. Ticket holders should have already been contacted regarding the change of location, but there’s a factor which could be overlooked and is important for those affected. Our friend Andreas Claus got in touch to let us know that there’s a significant difference to the new venue. It is no longer a seated concert, so while we understand tickets remain valid for the new location, if you are someone who doesn’t want to stand, or is unable to (for health reasons), you may need to investigate getting a refund for your ticket.

Nick Mason collaborates on new song for The Cancer Awareness Trust
Released today (Friday, December 16th) is This Christmas Time (https://thecancerplatform.com/this-christmas-time), a beautiful new song to support a new online global project providing information to people living with cancer, led by The Cancer Awareness Trust. Nick Mason, along with Ozzy Osbourne (who narrates a moving introduction), Andy Taylor of Duran Duran (who recently revealed his own battle with cancer) and Noddy Holder, lead a group of renowned artists on the song. It’s Nick’s second collaboration with the charitable endeavour founded by Professor Sir Chris Evans – the first being 2018’s One More Yard (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/archive/one-more-yard-song-out-now-including-ronnie-wood-and-nick.html). On the new project, Nick said: “It’s an honour and a delight to be asked to play on this record…I mean, what’s not to like? My favourite recording studio, the opportunity to work with great artists on a wonderful track – and for the most worthy cause… Oh, and complimentary lunch in the Abbey Road canteen!” This Christmas Time, written by Prof. Sir Chris Evans (who also played guitar), is inspired by the heroism and letters home from World War 1 British soldiers at Christmas. It has been released on Evamore Records and is now available on streaming and download platforms. The song is available to play on The Cancer Platform website, where youâll also find the full video for the song (the video below is purely the audio), photos of the recording sessions, quotes from the artists and information from Prof. Sir Chris on how he put the songs together and why (https://thecancerplatform.com/this-christmas-time).
