Who: Sevendust ‘All I See is War’ Tour

Where: Apollo Theater, Belvidere IL

When: May 9, 2019

Sevendust continued this leg of the ‘All I See is War’ tour with a stop at the Apollo Theater in Belvidere, IL. It may have been a cold and gloomy night outside, but inside the venue, the diehard fans were ready for a show. Local favorites from the metal group On My Six started the night off with a 30-minute set which culminated in a marriage proposal on stage. (She said yes) Next up was Rock/Hip-Hop group Discrepancies who kept the party going with their own rock-solid set. The excitement continued through the set as Discrepancies thoroughly prepared the audience for the main event.

After a short break and much anticipation, the lights dimmed and the crowd knew it was time for some Sevendust. They came out strong with “Dirty”, the first single from ‘All I See is War’. This was the only song performed from their most recent release. It was a night filled with Sevendust classics from ‘Home’, ‘Animosity’ and ‘Sevendust’. This didn’t matter to the long-time fans who sang along to every word, or to those in the mosh pit that was going strong all night. Soon the guys said “Thank You” as only they can, and then closed the night strong with “Black” and “Face to Face”.

One of the most noticeable things at any Sevendust show is the love and loyalty between the band and their fans. Frontman Lajon Witherspoon reaches out and touches those in front many times during the night, as well as wishing one fan Happy Birthday. The energy of the fans feeds directly to the band for one of the most high-energy rock shows you will have the pleasure to witness. In the words of Lou Brutus, “I urge you to see them every single time the chance presents itself. You will never be disappointed. They are truly one of the greats.”
