Photos l Review : The Threesome Tour headlined by Bring Me The Horizon in San Antonio, Texas

Who: The Threesome Tour – Bring Me The Horizon, Sleeping With Sirens, Poppy

Where: Sunken Gardens Theater, San Antonio, Texas

When: October 25, 2019

When the Threesome Tour was announced, many fans were thrilled that Bring Me The Horizon would be coming back to North America. I personally was ecstatic because I had missed out on seeing BMTH earlier in the year at Sonic Temple Music Festival (inclement weather caused much delay) and San Antonio was lucky enough to be one of the cities included on this run. The tour consisted of Bring Me The Horizon, Sleeping With Sirens, and Poppy.

Sleeping With Sirens was the first act that I was able to catch on this fall Friday night. Even though the show was outdoors and chilly, both the band and crowd gave it their all, regardless of the temperature. Sleeping With Sirens is a fan favorite and anyone who has been to a show of theirs in the past knows just how lively their performances are, and this night was no different. The band is celebrating ten years together, but still perform with the energy like they just got started. They recently released their 6th studio album, How It Feels to Be Lost,  in September and have been on the grind since. The band played a healthy mix of new, old, and everything in between. They closed with oh so popular “If You Can’t Hang,” which has become a staple at emo nights across the U.S.

It was now time for the long awaited headliners to take the stage and the theater was in unity with their anticipation. The lights finally came on and Bring Me The Horizon started off with their newer hit “Mantra.” The set up for the stage was extensive and had tons of screens, stairs, dancers, and fog sprayers, oh my! Lead vocalist Oli Sykes gave photographers a run for their money throughout the whole show. From going into the photo pit to the front row, and then later on disappearing to the back row, it was a constant surprise on where he was going to appear next. The band played hits from the album Sempiternal and forward. Before they began playing “Antivist,” Sykes invited two members of the crowd to join him on stage. Little did those members know, they would be leading and singing the entire song for the whole audience. Like true fans, both knew almost all the lyrics and were able to keep the crowd entertained and singing along. BMTH ended their set with “Follow You,” which had everyone dancing and in their feels. Eventually they came back out for their encore set and during “Throne,” Sykes had some fun with the crowd. He had everyone crouch down in unison and eventually jump up all at the same time. It was refreshing to see a huge group of people all participating at a concert. During “Drown,” Sykes somehow made his way through the pit, and into the back of the seated area of the theater. When fans took notice, you could see everyone begin to follow him, even when he strayed away from the actual stage and crowd and instead went near the theater entrance/merch tables.

Everyone was completely immersed for the duration of the show and “living in the moment.” People left in high spirits and their pre-show excitement had now transitioned to post-show excitement. The tour has now completed, but we will be eagerly waiting for their return.
