Brain Damage had the chance to ask Mason (https://youtu.be/5zqg5Wc4BRU?t=1498), during the AOL Build Series interview on the The Early Years Box Set (almost exactly three years ago) if such a thing existed – and whether it would ever see the light of day – Mason’s answer was encouraging: even though he had completely forgotten about it, he had in fact already re-recorded the drum parts for A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Mason stated that the band would consider anything: a remixed release with those new drum parts looked like a remote possibility now. In just three years that remote possibility – with the added bonus of additional work from Richard Wright – began to materialize and has been working its way through streaming services, toward its full release on November 29th. When you listen to the remixed version of One Slip, the first thing you will notice is a more pronounced rhythm section and a more serene keyboard part. The new version has a more regal quality, a trait that is indebted to the distinctive presence of Mason and Wright and the ghosts it summons: during the Gilmour era, The Division Bell pulled together the creative input of Pink Floyd’s three members with the most pronounced strength, but just as The Endless River weaved that together with exquisite distinction, so does this version of One Slip – and presumably, the rest of the remixed version of A Momentary Lapse of Reason on The Later Years. It really pulls the entire era together elegantly without displacing the original mix of A Momentary Lapse of Reason – which will always hold a unique place in history given the circumstances around it and the distinguished team of musicians that helped construct it.

Roger Waters releases live Radio KAOS recordings
In an unexpected move, the official Roger Waters Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/album/6jLetivEwXi3Zfdn0bEobc?si=j6rAeQ8pQBy-63VXMMT3Xw) and YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmprOhjPvaU) channels have just posted some selections from a live FM radio broadcast of a Radio KAOS show in 1987. Thus far, there’s the Jim Ladd intro and Radio Waves, Money, In The Flesh/Have A Cigar, Pigs/Wish You Were Here, Mother, The Powers That Be, Breathe and Another Brick part 1. Obviously this is just part of the show that was presented mainly in the US and Canada, with a pair of shows at Wembley Arena in London (featuring guest vocalist Clare Torry). One wonders if this is to precede a proper release, or if the missed songs will be along later. The sound quality is very good indeed and it’s fun to hear the show again after all this time – 35 years later! It seems like not THAT long ago…time really does fly.

Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets – Lithuania concert added
With the cancellation of the two Russian shows from the 2022 Echoes tour that Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/nick-mason-s-sos-2022/index.php) are about to start in around a month’s time, a small gap has opened in the schedule – which has turned out to be excellent news for our friends in Lithuania! The band will be playing at the Compensa Concertâ Hall in Vilnius, Lithuania, on May 27th 2022, and tickets have just gone on general sale: May 27th 2022 – Compensa Concertâ Hall, Vilnius, Lithuania (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/nick-mason-s-sos-2022/may-27th-compensa-concert-hall-vilnius-lith.html) – TICKETS (https://www.bilietai.lt/lit/renginiai/koncertai/nick-masons-saucerful-of-secrets-77542) It’s great to see Nick and the gang bring the music of Pink Floyd to locations which have been starved of the band’s music – the only other member of the band to have played Lithuania was Roger Waters in 2018. If you are thinking of going to the show, we suggest you don’t hang around when tickets go on sale on Monday, as we expect them to sell quickly for this 3,000 seater venue.

Roger Waters: This Is Not A Drill Europe 2023 tour expands
Further dates have been released for the 2023 Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill tour of Europe, with some tickets already on sale, and most of the newly announced shows going on presale this coming Wednesday, with the general sale starting on Friday. Tickets for some of the shows are already selling very quickly. Important: please check the individual show(s) you are interested in for confirmation of the exact ticketing details for that event, as they might differ from the majority. This European tour announcement is on the back of his current tour of the US and Canada, which is 30 shows in, with 12 still to play. The new staging sees the band playing “in the round”, with Roger prowling the stage to present to all sides of the arenas. Above is a new screen, arranged in a kind of cross. We don’t want to say too much for those who are trying to avoid spoilers! You might also notice from this new graphic to support the European tour, that it refers to “his first ever farewell tour” – make of that what you will, not least as a farewell tour isn’t normally referred to as that person’s “first ever”! Maybe it is Roger having a little joke… We suspect the following list will grow quickly, so please keep checking back for more details. Each show will link off to a specific page for that event, including ticket links, directions to the venue, and – once the show has taken place – details of the set list, video from the show, and submitted reviews and pictures from kind Brain Damage readers. Here’s the dates so far, as revealed on Roger’s website, along with ticketing websites in some of the countries. We’re keeping an eye out for further shows as they get added to the schedule.
