Neymar favourite in Wolves sights with price dropping by the week

Reports in Portugal have backed up recent claims that Wolves are targeting Santos forward Kaio Jorge who may be available at a bargain price.

New manager Bruno Lage is looking to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign. And he is said to be targeting a new frontman to put pressure on youngster Fabio Silva. Silva, 18, has completed his first season for the Molineux outfit, scoring four goals from 37 appearances in all competitions.

It was a partial success, with a few pundits suggesting he looked out of his depth at times. There is still time for the youngster to improve but he may now have to battle with another teenager for a first-team berth.

Kaio has caught the attention of some top clubs with his displays in Brazil. He has already made 79 appearances and attracted the attention for one of Italy’s top clubs.

Juventus are said to be keen while London duo Chelsea and Arsenal have been mentioned in the past. But it is the Wolves link that will not go away for a player that Paris Saint-Germain ace Neymar rates highly.

Back in May, the Brazil striker said, as quoted by PSG Talk: “There is also Kaio Jorge do Santos, he is very talented. I have already seen two Libertadores matches where he was playing, he can shine in Europe.”

That is high praise indeed from man who knows a thing or two about scoring goals.

Kaio could be Wolves summer bargain

The former Brazil Under-17 star has a €50m (£43m) release clause in his current Santos deal. That would certainly rule the West Midlanders out of a move for the starlet but it may well be misleading.

Portuguese outlet Record insists the Black Country outfit are keen as his price appears to be dropping by the week. The report claims that Alvinegro are willing to do business around the €10m (£8.6m) mark.

That will certainly be in Wolves budget but may also see others enter the picture. He is out of contract at the end of the year and so buying clubs are in a strong position over negotiations.

It remains to be seen if he does move on for that fee, with rumours that Wolves have already offered  €15m (£12.8m). Pre-season is now under way and so managers will want to get the bulk of their squads finalised as soon as possible.

Raul Jimenez should be back next term and fans would love to see another exciting talent in the ranks.
