Newcastle to bid for Serie A man with 3.5 million pound a year contract agreed

Newcastle drop points in relegation six-pointer

In what was billed as the game to kickstart Newcastle United’s great escape, the Tyneside outfit could only muster a draw against fellow relegation candidates Watford, in a result that keeps them in the bottom three.

Worse yet, a win for Norwich saw them leapfrog the Magpies, while Burnley, the only side now below them, have three games in hand on Eddie Howe’s side.

It is a situation that needs rectifying, and fast. With two signings already through the door, Newcastle now need to go into overdrive to try and recruit more players to ensure that they remain in the top flight, and as per Sky in Italy, they have already done just that.

Gosens on the way?

Atalanta man Robin Gosens is the next target for the Magpies, according to Sky Sports Italia.

The German wing-back has been out since October with a hamstring injury, but that has not dimmed Newcastle’s interest in him. And, with 18 months on his contract, the Magpies may be able to pick him up for far less than his 31 million pound transfermarkt valuation.

And, as per the report, personal terms will not be a problem; Newcastle have already agreed a 3.5 million euros per year deal with the 27 year old, which will triple his current salary for the next three and a half years.

Whether they will be able to convince Atalanta to sell midseason remains a question, but it seems as though if they can, they could be adding a third new face in January.
