NEW MUSIC: Corinna Jane – Give Me A Sign

Born in North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany, but raised in Northampton, UK, Corinna Jane is a Franco-English singer-songwriter with tunes as gorgeous as the siren herself. With her love for music, Corinna dove into the music industry (for lack of a better term) early learning to write and compose songs at the age of six. As the years progressed, she bred a new type of alternative pop which has grown into a quirky genre-blending style. The latest addition to her discography is the single ”Give Me A Sign’.

Known for her insightful lyrics and soulful voice, Corinna Jane has received coverage from BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 6. Making national waves, Corinna has gained a loyal following by sharing relatable music and giving engaging performances throughout the UK. While lockdown has placed musicians in a bit of a “gig-bind”, this songstress has by no means been sitting on her laurels; instead, she released an EP called Songs For My Mother dedicated to her mum who passed away earlier in the year. Moreover, she has been performing covers of iconic indie bands such as R.E.M.

The first single off the upcoming EP Queen of Wands, ‘Give Me A Sign’ is an introspective anthem reminiscent of Alanis Morissette, Garbage and The Cardigans. Touching on the complex issues intricately woven in the stages of grief, Corinna explores a darker, melancholic side narrating shock and numbness while grieving. While the use of live and electronic instrumentation is forceful and impassions ‘Give Me A Sign’, it is the emotional vocals that bring forth feelings of poignant pain, desperation and raw honesty.

“Recording the track was like letting two kids run through a sweet shop. We were picking and choosing whatever came to our minds and the track grew in a way that neither of us had conceived before writing.” – Corinna Jane on ‘Give Me A Sign’
