Mesut Ozil’s agent speaks out over Arsenal contract situation & Fenerbahce links

The agent of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has provided an update on his client’s increasingly uncertain future.

Ozil’s exit links

Speculation surrounding Gunners midfielder Ozil has reemerged in force over recent months.

Amid another largely-disappointing campaign to this point, during which the 31-year-old has often struggled for form, rumours have begun to crop back up regarding a potential exit from the Emirates.

Despite Ozil having established himself as first-choice since the appointment of Mikel Arteta, he has, to this point in the campaign, managed just a solitary goal and 2 assists across 18 Premier League starts.

This is the type of return that has led to large sections of Arsenal’s fans doubling down on their calls for their side’s no. 10 to be moved on.

‘Time will show…’

And, as outlined above, Ozil’s agent this weekend moved to provide an insight into the future of the Gunners midfielder.

During a discussion with Turkish outlet Fanatik, Erkut Sogut was drawn on his client’s current contract situation.

As things stand, Ozil’s terms at the Emirates are due to expire next summer.

And, if the latest comments on the part of the former Schalke man’s representative are anything to go by, then Ozil’s future appears to remain completely up in the air:

‘Mesut has a one-year contract. There will be no change in this regard. So what happens next, time will show. Mesut will be 32 years old and will have a few more years in his career. Mesut and his family will make a decision.’

When questioned on the possibility of Ozil swapping Arsenal for Turkish giants Fenerbahce, Sogut added:

‘I cannot speak about Mesut and Fenerbahçe. Because I have no right to speak on this matter according to the principle of confidentiality.’
