Mesut Ozil Tweets support to injured David Luiz as toothless Arsenal fall to Leicester

Arsenal’s defeat to Leicester City this evening has seen the Gunners’ lack of ideas take centre stage once more, whilst Mesut Ozil’s social media activity only serves to make the situation all the more maddening.

Vardy decides it

Mikel Arteta’s men welcomed the Foxes to the Emirates a short time ago, for a Premier League clash.

Arsenal headed into proceedings desperate for all 3 points, having fallen to two defeats in their last three league outings.

In turn, Arteta opted for a new-look 4-3-3, featuring all of Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka and summer arrival Thomas Partey.

Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, meanwhile, flanked lone frontman Alexandre Lacazette.

When all was said and done in north London, though, to say that the hosts’ XI failed to have the desired effect would be putting it lightly.

A toothless performance, completely devoid of creativity, eventually saw the Gunners put to the sword by a goal to nil.

The scorer of the evening’s solitary goal came as little surprise, as Jamie Vardy, after being introduced off the bench by Brendan Rodgers, nodded home fellow substitute Cengiz Under’s cross 10 minutes from time.

Their latest defeat leaves Arsenal languishing in 10th in the Premier League table, with just 9 points from the club’s first 6 outings of the campaign.

‘Get well soon’

As outlined above, meanwhile, as the Gunners, who began the season with such promise, begin to wobble, one individual who continues to watch on from the sidelines is Mesut Ozil.

Much has of course been made of the 32-year-old’s absence of late, with Mikel Arteta having made crystal clear that he has no intention of reintroducing the club’s long-time main source of creativity to his first-team setup.

Whether you agree with the Arsenal boss’ decision or not, though, one thing which is certain is that Ozil’s social media activity is not exactly a good look for the north Londoners.

After Tweeting throughout his side’s Europa League victory over Rapid Wien during the week, the German was again busy in making predictions and following along with the action tonight.

After David Luiz was forced off with an injury problem, for example, Ozil was quick to wish his teammate a speedy recovery:

The midfielder, in his defence, is of course doing nothing wrong here.

However, Arsenal’s most creative player sitting at home, acting as a commentator of sorts, whilst the club toil in their efforts to even create a clear-cut chance at home to Leicester, is frankly a little embarrassing for all involved.
