Man United’s Paul Pogba: ‘Racist insults are ignorance and can only make me stronger’

Reports of Rashford & Pogba being racially abused

The 2019/20 season has been rather disappointing in terms of the behavior of some ‘fans’.

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham was allegedly a victim of online racial abuse after Chelsea’s Super Cup loss to Liverpool.

Kick it Out had this to say on the matter:

“Last night we received reports of racist abuse at Tammy Abraham on social media after Chelsea’s Uefa Super Cup match.

“Such abuse is now increasingly predictable, but no less disgusting.

“We send our support to Tammy and reiterate our call for Twitter and other social media companies to clamp down on this level of abuse. This is a call to action – we want to know what they are going to do to tackle this insidious problem.” As quoted by the Guardian.

Despite Kick it Out’s call for social media companies to clamp down on this type of abuse, two Manchester United players also look to have been victims in the last week.

According to The Times, both Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford have been subjected to racist abuse on social media recently, after the pair missed penalties vs Wolves and Crystal Palace respectively.

Pogba on racist abuse

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba has now, on Sunday, tweeted about racist abuse via his official Twitter account.

Pogba stated that the racist insults are ignorant, and will only make him stronger and motivate him to fight for the next generation:

My ancestors and my parents suffered for my generation to be free today, to work, to take the bus, to play football. Racist insults are ignorance and can only make me stronger and motivate me to fight for the next generation.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also had his say on the alleged Rashford abuse:
