Liverpool star backed to form ‘special’ partnership with Man Utd target

Adam Lallana has been backed to form a “special” partnership with James Maddison if he moves to Leicester City as a free agent.

Lallana is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season, and it looks like he will be bringing an end to his six years on Merseyside.

The midfielder has been linked with a reunion with former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers at Leicester, and the potential move has been praised by his former Southampton teammate Dean Hammond – who also spent time with the Foxes as a player.

“Personally, I could see Adam Lallana fitting into any team,” Hammond told the Leicester Mercury. “He is one hell of a player.

“He’s one of the best, if not the best I have played with. Both footed, technically brilliant.

“Do Leicester need him? Obviously, that’s another question because you’ve got James Maddison; Harvey Barnes can play in that position.

“Would he benefit the Leicester team? Would he improve it? Yes, probably.

“He’s a really good player. I could imagine, if you could get him and Maddison both into the team playing together it would be pretty special.

“He would be a great signing, whether he comes or not I don’t know, I haven’t asked him.”

Even if Lallana does move to the King Power Stadium, it remains unclear whether he will be able to line up alongside Maddison, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

The chances of the England international staying with the Foxes appear to be increasing, though, meaning Rodgers could be able to deploy the duo together in an exciting partnership next season.
