Jurgen Klopp provides latest Thiago update ahead of Newcastle vs Liverpool

Newcastle vs Liverpool

Liverpool face a trip to Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will head into the meeting at St Jame’s Park no doubt keen to bounce back from their 1-1 draw with West Brom last time out.

Despite dropping points recently, Liverpool were able to maintain top spot in the Premier League and could extend that lead even further on Wednesday.

As for Newcastle, they are now winless in three and slowly dropping down the table.

Jurgen Klopp on Thiago

Ahead of the Newcastle clash, Jurgen Klopp has recently spoken to the media.

Klopp would discuss a number of topics in said interview, including the fitness of Thiago.

The Spaniard has been limited to just two outings for the Reds since arriving from Bayern Munich, due to injury woes and Covid-19.

But with fixtures coming thick and fast, the Liverpool faithful would no doubt love to have the Spaniard back as soon as possible – especially for games like West Brom where the midfielder is likely to have had more joy than most in attempting to break the Baggies down.

However, when asked if Thiago could feature vs Newcastle, Klopp stated:

No, Thiago did parts of training so far, was in… today is Sunday, so on Friday he trained the full session but the session was a reduced session, so he could do that.

He has to be part of team training, it’s not about training one day with the team and then you can play football in the Premier League again.

It looks quite promising in the moment but I cannot say more about it, to be honest. I don’t know. I think the plan was that he trains tomorrow [Monday] completely normal but we will see that.
