Liverpool have been one of the sides to have suffered most during the first-half of this Covid-19-hit season.
Across the brief campaign thus far, all of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk have spent time on the sidelines, either due to positive Covid tests or injury.
The majority of these stars are now back in action for Liverpool.
However, van Dijk and Gomez have been ruled out for lengthy periods, Matip’s fitness issues continue to persist and Thiago has also made just two senior appearances since signing over the summer due to a combination of Covid-19 and injury issues.
Klopp on Liverpool’s January
To their credit, Liverpool have done pretty well in dealing with all of the aforementioned issues.
However, with half a campaign still to play, Liverpool fans would probably be hoping to see a couple of reinforcements come in during the winter window to ensure they are able to maintain their hunt for a second Premier League title.
But when speaking about the January window recently, Jurgen Klopp didn’t give too much away, though he also seemingly didn’t rule out not signing anyone.
When asked about the possibility of any incomings this month, the German stated:
“We have solutions in the squad obviously but we struggled still with injuries. For most of the time with centre-half position, it can happen like this – when it starts, it does not stop.
“We have solutions with the squad but if we can do something in the window, I don’t know. It is like that.
“It is a very difficult transfer window, as you can imagine. Not all of the clubs have real money. Just doing something makes no sense. Doing the right thing makes sense. So far, we have really liked what we have done.”
