Watford’s poor start
Watford had a solid 2018/19 under Javi Gracia.
They finished 11th in the league and reached the FA Cup final, which they lost to Manchester City.
However, the 2019/20 campaign has started pretty badly.
The Hornets lost their opening league game 3-0 at home to Brighton.
That loss was followed by defeats to Everton and most recently, West Ham United.
As a result, Watford are sat dead bottom of the Premier League table on zero points.
They are just one of two PL sides not to have won any of their opening three clashes and are the only side not to have picked up a single point.
Gracia still in favour
Watford also have the worst goal difference in the league, -6.
Despite all of this, Javi Gracia still apparently has the backing of the Watford squad.
According to the Evening Standard, the Spaniard’s job is currently not under threat as he has the backing of his squad and the support of the Watford hierarchy.
The report from the ES also mentions that there is an understanding that Watford’s slow start may in part, be due to the late arrivals of new signings Danny Welbeck and Ismaila Sarr.
Neither of the above-mentioned duo have started a league game for Watford yet with both coming off the bench in Watford’s 3-1 loss vs West Ham.
However, the pair were handed their first competitive starts for Watford on Tuesday in the League Cup.
