Interview: Celebrity Stalker Talks “Your Mom” music video, Post Pandemic Shows, and More

Concert Crap: Who is Celebrity Stalker? 

Celebrity Stalker: Celebrity Stalker is the punk/metal crossover band you have been looking for. Celebrity Stalker hail from Southern California, and feature a trio of individuals from different musical backgrounds combining to deliver songs with in-your-face vocals, fast and crunchy rhythm guitar, blistering, and melodic guitar solos, with catchy hard-hitting bass and drums.

Celebrity Stalker’s musical influences include Suicidal Tendencies, Iron Maiden, Pennywise, System of a Down, Power Trip, and Iron Reagan. Larry “LP3” Prosser, Jason Young, and Charlie Moffett make up the core of Celebrity Stalker. The power-trio have spent years honing their craft, writing songs that rock, and developing an engaging live show. Celebrity Stalker gives it their all when entering the recording studio or taking the stage. They never waiver from their mission to entertain the listener or the crowd with aggressive music that will have you tapping your foot, banging your head, and raising a fist.

CC: You just put out a video for the song “Your Mom”. Can you talk about the premise and making of the music video and your so-called ‘hijinx’ that happens within? 

CS: We wanted a fun video, with a MILF baking cookies for a young man in the neighborhood. We went back and forth on some settings, and looks for the video, with no success. It wasn’t until Jason came up with the idea to use Harvest studios in Northridge where we would be able to film on an actual sitcom set. Jason then wrote out the treatment for the video, telling the story about “Your Mom” baking cookies for our mascot Stalker Dan. The video for Your Mom looks and feels like an ’80s three-camera sitcom. Jason produced and directed the video, so we knew the video would tell the story we wanted to see. We filmed the video in two phases, capturing the dark rocking out elements first, then capturing the more fun, sitcom-looking elements.  The entire video was filmed at Harvest Studios in Northridge where we used an actual sitcom set to ensure the proper look and feel for the video. We appreciate the professionalism and dedication Harvest Studios puts into every project they work on, having the Harvest crew on the project elevated the final product.

CC: How did Celebrity Stalker adapt to the worldwide pandemic in 2020 and going into 2021? How did you guys change for the better?

CS: The pandemic snuck up on us, just like everyone else… rather than shut down Celebrity Stalker, and wait out the pandemic, we went all-in on live stream shows and music videos. We learned the importance of our online presence during a time when live shows were not happening. CC: What would you tell other bands and artists about on how they should hone their craft when something out of their control (such as the pandemic), hits them in the face? 

CS: Stay focused on your goals, continue to write songs, and hone your live show. Be prepared to improvise, things beyond our control will happen. Be prepared to change your plans. CC: Are you guys nervous to play to live audiences again? 

CS: No, not at all, we look forward to playing shows again, and getting out to connect with our fans. CC: When shows get back into full swing, what bands or artists would you like to tour or play a show with? 

CS: That is a great question, that is hard to answer because we don’t know who will be ready and willing to play as things open up. Everyone has different safety concerns. We will be ready when the time comes. We will be setting up shows on the road with Pandemic Unleashed, and Weaponized. CC: Why should people give a crap (pun intended) about Celebrity Stalker? 

CS: Celebrity Stalker is a fun band, with serious songs, and an engaging live show. If you want to have a good time, Celebrity Stalker is the band to check out. CC: Anything else you’d like to say? 

CS: The single for Your Mom drops Friday, May 7th on all streaming platforms. On May 16th we will be doing a live stream show from Bombshelter Studios for TaxiTV featuring an appearance by Beeswax Network dancer Melissa Lyn. On May 28th at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa we will throw our release party for the new “Your Mom” single, the show is being promoted by Twisted Soul Entertainment and Rock N Roll Industries Magazine.
