In his element: Spurs’ pursuit of 26 y/o could see Levy rise to the occasion – opinion

Tottenham Hotspur’s negotiations with Napoli for Arkadiusz Milik should be in the ideal state to put Daniel Levy in his element.

What’s the word?

Napoli have reduced their asking price for the Poland international from €40m (£37m) to €25m (£23.1m), making a move more realistic for Spurs, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness).

This decision from the Serie A outfit comes after Roma made an offer of €15m (£13.9m) plus a couple of youth players in an attempt to sign the 26-year-old.

Can you name every one of Spurs’ top goalscorers from the past 15 seasons? It’s a tricky one…

Spurs, who are looking for a backup option for Harry Kane, have already made an offer to Milik’s entourage in the hope this will help to move any deal along.

Daniel Levy in his element

Napoli want to sell Milik, the player is keen to leave and Jose Mourinho wants a striker as soon as possible, so it is in everyone’s interest to make this happen quickly.

With Napoli having even threatened to not play Milik should he stay past the transfer window’s deadline, these are the perfect conditions to put Levy in his element and get the best possible deal for Spurs.

The Spurs chairman is a notoriously tough negotiator, with Football Whispers having previously called him “the king of the transfer window”.

He has already shown his ability to get a good deal this time around, having brought in Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £15m, as reported by The Evening Standard.

Considering all of the above, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Levy carve out a deal that sees Spurs get Milik for even less than the current reduced price being quoted.
