Harry Strange stuns with stirring single ‘Spare Room’

With his 2nd single of the year, Harry Strange showcases a whole other side to his sound. Known for energy-laden alt-pop anthems, ‘Spare Room’ sees the London based artists demonstrate a softer side to his sound. Although the track delves into nostalgia, there’s a real sense of lyrical urgency to the track. This track builds upon the success of his previous two singles ‘I Like You’ and ‘Dream About’, with both earning editorial support from Spotify and acclaim from various tastemakers.

Speaking of the track, Strange Shared “it’s about a place in time that whenever life’s getting a bit too much or when my mind is getting a bit too loud, I think of this particular place and everything settles. This song is almost an attempt to encapsulate that feeling and the nostalgia that surrounds it.”

Although this song is understandably very personal, it’s also wonderfully accessible. With the minimalist production and thought-provoking lyricism, Strange creates a vivid picture of the range of differing emotions he’s going through. Over the coming months, Strange looks set to return to the stage again, following his last sold-out show at the Waiting Room in Stoke Newington. It’ll be interesting to see how Strange interweaves this softer number in with energetic tracks like ‘I Like You’ in his live set.
