“Gunna cost us promotion”, “Drop”: Lots of Leeds fans slam “liability” who’s a “disaster”

Leeds United slipped off their perch on Saturday afternoon as they were surprisingly defeated at Elland Road in the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side paid the price for an array of missed chances with the Latics firing in the only goal of the game just before the hour mark.

Joe Williams’ corner deflected in off Pablo Hernandez past goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, and despite the Whites squandering a total of 18 shots against the visitors, it was the Spaniard between the sticks that received the brunt of the criticism.

Here’s what has been said…

A couple of supporters went straight in there and labelled the 33-year-old a “liability” and a “fraud,” with the latter going as far as being sarcastic in calling his performance a goalkeeping masterclass.

It’s not the first time this season that Casilla has come in for flak either, and it has led to other fans suggesting that he will be the reason behind the club not gaining promotion this season as they dropped off top spot once again.

Patrick Bamford also got a mention along with the goalkeeper by a pair of fans with them both of the belief that the duo would seriously hinder their chances of returning to the Premier League.

One even outed Bielsa for his ‘blind loyalty’ towards them.

Naturally, there were a couple of comparisons made with shot-stoppers of the past.

“Terrible in the box” was a review from another member of the Elland Road faithful, which led to him claiming that Casilla was up there for the worst goalkeeper he has seen at the club with Paul Rachubka, who endured a dire spell between 2011 and 2013.

Whilst a further fan demanded that he find his inner Oliver Kahn or face being dropped.

Which leads onto the plethora of supporters asking for the former Real Madrid man to be replaced by Illan Meslier, the current backup.

Leeds have now won just one of their last five league games and haven’t managed to keep a clean sheet in nine straight matches, per WhoScored – maybe it is time for a change?

Call yourself a Leeds expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?

And in other news, here’s why Leeds are weaker now than they were before January…
