Dan from Turtle Tempo’s pick: Gold Baby – Dogbone
Gold Baby produce guitar-driven dream-pop, with grunge influences in their sound they create some really distinctive, great tracks and their latest single Dogbone is just another banger from the North Londoners, fronted by Sïan Alex, if you’re a fan of Alvvays you’ll stan Gold Baby, who draw comparisons with dreamy shoegaze soothing vocals.
The band play a free entry show at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington on the 17th of February to celebrate their next single Japanese Racehorse.

October Drift have shared their new single, “Oh The Silence”’, the most recent track to be taken from their highly anticipated debut album, “Forever Whatever”, which is out on January 24th via Physical Education Records.
“On The Silence” is classic October Drift with some evocative lyrics and vocals mixed in with the dark and brooding guitar tones. It has some beautiful explosive bridges going right into the anthemic choruses, if there is one thing October Drift can do is write a huge chorus. Their album isn’t that far away now, and judging them based on their last few single releases it’s going to be a debut to remember. Listen to the immersive new track “Oh The Silence” below.
Alex from It’s All Indie’s pick: Gengahr – Never A Low
With a third album ‘Sanctuary’ coming at the end of the month, Gengahr are back with another track ‘Never A Low’ which dropped yesterday (January 9th). Following up on their BBC Hottest Track in the World ‘Heavenly Maybe’, the new cut ‘Never A Low’ continues the quartet’s new experimental sound is groovier in the guitar work and the disco-esque melodies.
About the song, the band said: “Experimentation, collaboration and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones is at the core of this album and in the process of making Sanctuary. Our sound and the way we work together has really evolved, and ‘Never A Low’ is the track which for us which best represents the results of this change.”

Michael from Nexus Music Blog’s pick: Cathedral Bells – Disconnected
Cathedral Bells have released their latest dreamy, reverb soaked single ‘Disconnected’. The band have been sure to capture the very best of the DIY approach by grasping the notion of home production. With little in the way of negatives, the release sees the focus shift towards a more shoe-gaze style of delivery, with the vocals almost merging with the track itself. I would normally be critical about such mixing, but there is something poetic about the title of the track, and the way in which the vocals swell and blend in with the surroundings, whilst the track becomes the main focus, and the vocal playing second to that. It’s a bold move that works for such an incredibly experimental genre, and encapsulates a level of artistry that is refreshing heading into 2020.
