Euro Paper Talk: Agent keen as Man Utd edge ahead of Newcastle, Everton for Juve star; City make Ferran Torres swap offer

Manchester United have moved ahead of Newcastle and Everton in the race to sign a Juventus star, while Man City have proposed a swap deal to snatch Ferran Torres – all in Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk.

MAN UTD IN POLE POSITION TO LAND JUVE STAR

Manchester United have reportedly renewed their interesy in signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the hunt for a new central midfielder to bolster his options ahead of a title challenge in 2020-21.

Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Leicester star James Maddison have previously been targeted. Meanwhile, a report in Thursday’s Paper Talk claimed that former Everton man Idrissa Gueye was also an option.

But with Grealish and Maddison expected to cost between £60-80m, United have switched attention to cheaper alternatives.

And France international Rabiot is one of those, according to Calciomercato (via the Daily Express).

However, Ed Woodward will have a battle on his hands to land the 25-year-old. The report also states that Newcastle and Everton want to bring in the Juve star.

Rabiot has enjoyed a regular starting role under Maurizio Sarri – missing just one league fixture since December 15.

And his displays have seen him publicly praised by the Italian tactician.

RABIOT HAS SPECIAL QUALITIES

“Adrien Rabiot is a player with quality outside the norm,” Sarri said.

“After some big changes in his career, he is starting to emerge. But it’s the same path that many foreign players have gone through in Italy.

“I can see his character now in the way he plays.”

But despite the glowing reviews, Calcio adds that Juve view the midfielder as a ‘valuable exchange pawn’ that can be used to finance other transfer targets.

It’s also suggested that Rabiot’s mother and agent, Veronique Rabiot, is prepared to listen to offers. The player is also ‘curious’ about the riches on offer in the Premier League.
