Danny Cipriani sends classy tweet after being left out of Rugby World Cup squad

England head coach Eddie Jones has overlooked Premiership Player of the year Danny Cipriani from his official 31-man RugbyWorld Cup squad.

The writing was on the wall after he was dispatched for specialised strength and conditioning training away from the main squad three weeks ago before being left out of the training camp in Italy.

But the 31-year-old showed real class, wishing luck to the selected squad on Twitter last night

He twweted: “Congratulations to everyone announced in the 31 today. Great blend and balance.

“Let’s all get behind the squad!”

Other disappointed players, including Harlequins scrum-half and Sale Sharks winger Denny Solomona, also sent out supportive tweets last night following the squad announcement.

England have three matches against Wales (17 August), Ireland (24 August) and Italy (6 September) before the tournament starts. Jones said of their importance: “Every game is an opportunity to improve our game fitness, our team cohesion, and our tactical adaptability. Each game for us will have a specific purpose.”

England will begin their Rugby World Cup campaign in Japan against Tonga in Sapporo (22 September, KO 11:15am UK time) before playing USA Rugby in Kobe (26 September, KO 11:45am UK time), Argentina in Tokyo (5 October, KO 09:00am UK time) and France in Yokohama (12 October, KO 09:15am UK time).
