Beneath The Surface: Tailor

Hello, howdy, hi and welcome back to another Beneath The Surface session. This time we are joined by the wonderful Tailor, who has recently released his debut EP ‘Reminisce’. Electronic pop at it’s finest, ‘Reminisce’ is infused with subtle dance elements and is accompanied by two visuals. One an official music video and another more intimate, home made piece for the track ‘See You’. Both of which can be found below. So stick the EP on play and lets get stuck into this.

What would you say first sparked your interest in music/who inspired you to make music?

My family love music and I grew up listening to a lot. My brothers were a massive influence in terms of what they listened to and I used to go watch one brother rehearse with band mates in studios in Birmingham which made me want to play.

How would you describe the music you are currently creating?

80s/90s influenced, slightly RnB tinged pop

What does your creative process look like?

I write songs for others as well as me, so it always starts with the song and getting that right before anything else. Mostly with  a piano or guitar and singing random melodies/toplines until something clicks.. then words.. then production

Who would you most like to collaborate with? (let’s send it out to the universe and make it happen!)

It varies but right now Majid Jordan and TSHA

What is the one message you would like to send out to your fans?

Stick with it

What’s your top tip to rejuvenate your creativity/get over a writer’s block?

Go for a walk and don’t listen to anything then come back to it

What’s next for you, what do we have to look forward to/ what are you currently working on?

I have a few collaborations with other artists coming out soon along with more solo Tailor.. it’s going to be a busy 6 months!
