Beneath The Surface: COLL

Hello and a big fat happy Good Friday to all you beautiful people. I hope you are all just about ready to slip, sink and slide into a long bank holiday weekend full of fun & frolics ending nicely in a Chocolate induced coma.

BUT just before you do, I have a wonderful Beneath The Surface edition that will help you dive into the weekend all the more easily. For todays feature I am joined by the really rather talented Rapper & producer COLL.

Let’s get to it!

What would you say first sparked your interest in music/who inspired you to make music?

I fell in love with music from a young age as I always loved it around the house. I was mainly inspired when I heard Biggie Smalls whilst in High school, there was so much swearing and I also loved how he sounded and the wordplay really stood out to me.

How would you describe the music you are currently creating?

Energetic, eclectic and fun.

What does your creative process look like?

I like to create a lot of ideas when at home so I usually start by making a beat and then If something clicks I’ll write to it and spend as much time as I can making it sound good. I’m usually looking for a feeling or something that makes me excited.

Who would you most like to collaborate with? (let’s send it out to the universe and make it happen!)

Jay Z or Alicia Keys, If the universe makes that happen I’ll be very happy!

What is the one message you would like to send out to your fans?

Stay positive, stay motivated and keep improving in all aspects of your life.

What’s your top tip to rejuvenate your creativity/get over a writer’s block?

Being happy, when I’m happy and relaxed I make great music and can write for days. So I would say finding things that make you happy outside of music will help.

What’s next for you, what do we have to look forward to/ what are you currently working on?

Right now my focus is my next mixtape project Blue Magic 3 which will be out this summer and will feature some other artists I really respect. So I would say expect a lot of energy and a lot of fun music videos coming up. A small tour is scheduled for the end of the year too. That will be a nice way to end the year, hopefully I’ll see some of you there.

Thank you so much for having me.
