Arsenal’s Ozil & Kolasinac pulled from Newcastle squad over security fears

Ozil & Kolasinac won’t feature against Newcastle

Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac will not be in the squad that faces Newcastle this weekend amid “further security incidents”.

Ozil and Kolasniac were in the headlines during July when the latter fought off armed robbers.

Masked thieves wielding knives attempted to carjack the pair when seemingly getting into Ozil’s car.

However, Kolasniac fought off the criminals and both escaped unharmed.

Though, there look to be more problems for the pair.

Pair pulled amid ‘further security incidents’

Arsenal have pulled both Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac from their squad to face Newcastle amid ‘further security incidents’.

In a statement sent to the Guardian, Arsenal claim that those security incidents are currently being investigated by the police.

While there’s no mention as to when either player will be back in the Arsenal team, their statement claims they are looking forward to welcoming them back ‘as soon as possible’.

“Mesut Özil and Sead Kolasinac will not be part of the squad for our opening match against Newcastle following further security incidents which are being investigated by the police,” Arsenal explained in their statement.

“The welfare of our players and their families is always a top priority.

“We have taken this decision following discussion with the players and their representatives.

“We look forward to welcoming the players back to the squad as soon as possible.”
