Arsenal training footage hints at Willian availability vs West Ham

The latest footage stemming from Arsenal’s training ground suggests that Willian is likely to be available to face West Ham this weekend.

Gunners advance

Mikel Arteta’s men are set to return to action on Sunday afternoon, in a highly anticipated meeting with the Hammers.

Arsenal will head into proceedings in search of a bounce-back performance, despite having kept their European adventure very much alive last night.

A meeting with Olympiacos at the Emirates eventually saw the Gunners put to the sword by a goal to nil. A 3-1 first-leg victory, though, ensured that the Premier League giants booked their spot in today’s Europa League quarter-final draw.

Next up for Arteta and co., meanwhile, is a showdown with Rangers-downing Slavia Prague next month.

Willian latest

As outlined above, though, before focusing their efforts on European glory, Arsenal must first shift their attentions back to matters on the domestic front, starting with a derby meeting with high-flying West Ham in 48 hours’ time.

David Moyes’ men have endured a remarkable campaign to date, and will head into Sunday’s clash aware that a victory would guide them level on points with 4th-placed Chelsea in the Premier League table.

As such, Mikel Arteta will no doubt be keen to have as close to a fully fit squad as possible at his disposal to face West Ham.

And, if the latest footage stemming from the Gunners’ training ground is anything to go by, then it appears that the Spaniard’s options on Sunday could well be boosted by the return of a key attacker.

The player in question? Willian.

Brazilian wide-man Willian – who has enjoyed an upturn in form of late – was absent from Arsenal’s squad to take on Olympiacos on Thursday, after picking up a calf issue.

Just 24 hours later, though, the former Chelsea man has been spotted in first-team training, hinting that he is likely to be available for this weekend’s derby showdown.
