Arsenal set to take advantage of Inter turmoil by snatching £40m full-back

Arsenal are reportedly looking to take advantage of Inter Milan’s troubles by swooping for full-back Achraf Hakimi.

Reports in Italy claim that Inter’s owners, Suning Holdings Group, could scale back their involvement in the club, having already shut down Chinese Super League side Jiangsu FC.

Although that would appear unlikely, Sports Mole claims that should Inter wish to raise any funds then Hakimi would be a good piece to trade.

To that end, the Daily Telegraph reports that the Gunners have the 22-year-old on their radar.

The former Real Madrid man is viewed as a perfect replacement for Hector Bellerin, who looks certain to move on this summer.

Barcelona and PSG have both been linked with the Arsenal stalwart, who wants a fresh challenge after 10 years in north London.

The report adds that Hakimi could be available for around £40m and would want a reasonable salary of £75k-a-week.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the defender, who has scored six goals and added six assists that season.

However, the emergence of Reece James means Thomas Tuchel will look to strengthen other areas of his team.

Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly joined the chase to sign highly-rated Santos attacker Kaio Jorge this summer.

The 19-year-old is a product of the Santos youth academy who was promoted to the first-team squad during last season.

Jorge has since gone on to make 51 senior appearances, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

Calciomercato states that as well as the English duo, Ajax, Inter, Juventus, Lyon and Shakhtar Donetsk are also keen.

Only last week, Santos president Andres Rueda confirmed the club were struggling to reach an agreement over a contract extension.

That has seemingly opened the door for European clubs to make their move. Chelsea, however, might just have a leg up on their rivals. Read more…
