Arsenal reportedly considering summer move for former Man United man Daley Blind

As revealed by the reliable David Ornstein, Arsenal are weighing up a summer swoop for versatile Ajax star Daley Blind.

Blind rejuvenated

Blind, the son of Ajax legend and former Netherlands boss Danny, is best known to fans of the Premier League for his time spent plying his trade with Manchester United.

The Dutch international spent 4 years on the books of the Red Devils, between 2014 and 2018.

Blind’s time in England, however, despite his obvious talent, proved largely underwhelming.

This eventually resulted in the 29-year-old making a return to his home country 18 months ago, when he rejoined boyhood club Ajax.

And Blind’s time back at the Johan Cruijff ArenA has since seen the stopper’s career revitalised.

After playing a key role in Ajax’s shock run to the Champions League semi-finals and Eredivisie title during his debut season back in the Dutch capital, the experienced Oranje international has since continued to impress to this point in the current campaign.

Before being forced onto the sidelines by a heart issue (from which he has since recovered) in December, Blind had appeared in all of Ajax’s league outings this season.

Arsenal switch?

As such, the 29-year-old’s career renaissance has since inevitably seen some of European football’s giants stand up and take notice.

And, as per the aforementioned report from David Ornstein of the Athletic, one such club expressing an interest in Blind’s services are Arsenal.

Despite William Saliba’s imminent arrival, Mikel Arteta is thought to be keen on further reinforcements at the heart of his side’s defence.

Blind, meanwhile, has emerged as an attractive option, due to both his Premier League experience, and a rumoured low buyout clause in his Ajax contract.

Arsenal, though, are just one of a number of clubs eyeing up the Dutchman’s signature this summer.
