Arsenal confirm Alexandre Lacazette balloon incident being taken ‘seriously’

Premier League giants Arsenal have released a statement, assuring that recent images circulating of striker Alexandre Lacazette will not be taken lightly.

Lacazette goes viral

A report surrounding Lacazette first published in the English media last night has since garnered widespread attention amongst fans.

The ‘Exclusive’ came courtesy of the Daily Star, who showcased screenshots from a video allegedly sent to a group of Lacazette’s friends by the Arsenal striker.

In the images, the 28-year-old can be seen with the end of a balloon in his mouth.

Lacazette goes on to inhale from the balloon, before closing his eyes and resting his head on a couch, presumably in the Frenchman’s home.

The video was accompanied by texts, which, according to the Daily Star, read:

‘At home, chilling and doing balloons.’

‘Will be handled internally’

What makes these images coming to light such a potentially serious matter, though, is the fact that Lacazette was previously warned by Arsenal over the use of nitrous oxide.

18 months ago, the Gunners were forced to release a statement, after their now-struggling hitman was filmed inhaling gas in a north London nightclub, alongside the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Matteo Guendouzi:

‘The players will be spoken to about this and reminded of their responsibilities as representatives of the club.’

And, if the latest word stemming from those in a position of power at the Emirates is anything to go by, then Lacazette’s most recent infringement could be set to land him in serious trouble.

In a statement released to football.london this afternoon, an Arsenal spokesperson confirmed that the club are taking the matter ‘seriously’:

‘This is a private matter which we are taking seriously. It will be handled internally.’
