On Friday, March 13th, Halflives released a new EP, Resilience. Amid all the concert cancellations and postponements, new music from one of my favorite bands definitely helps to liven up my days, and this EP did not disappoint.
The first track on the EP is âRockstar Everyday,â which was released this past fall. You can watch the music video for it here. This song was super catchy from the first time I heard it, and itâs likely to be stuck in your head for a while. Itâs slower-paced but still makes you want to move. âSnakeâ is another song with a slower beat, but it has a luring sound in the chorus. Next up is âTime Bomb.â This track features Sleeping With Sirenâs Kellin Quinn, and itâs going to leave you wanting to dance and jump around to it. I love the lyrics in âOne Bad Dayâ and how it paints a picture that you can easily visualize. The EP closes with âHard to Break,â an upbeat, determined song that reminds me of power-pop anthems from the 90s and early 00s. This track has a powerful bridge that is almost made for being played live.
Even though there are only five songs on it, Resilience tells a story with its words. This is going to be an EP that I play on repeat, and I hope that Iâm able to see Halflives live at a concert one day.
