Virgil van Dijk sends end of season message to Liverpool fans

Liverpool’s 2018/19

Liverpool’s 2018/19 will be one their fans are very unlikely to forget.

In the Premier League Liverpool would finish the season on a staggering 97 points.

While it was not enough to win the league, losing out to Manchester City by a point, the Reds are the league’s best ever runners up.

Jurgen Klopp’s side would not do so well in the domestic cups, however.

They lost to Wolves in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and to Chelsea in the 3rd round of the League Cup.

The Champions League, on the other hand, was a different story. Liverpool came from 3-0 down against Barcelona in the semi-finals of the competition to win 4-3 and then beat Tottenham 2-0 in the final.

Van Dijk’s message

As for Virgil van Dijk, he had an exceptional season.

The Dutchman helped Liverpool keep the tightest defence in the PL, letting in just 22 goals in 38 games.

Van Dijk would also win the PFA Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards.

After such an impressive campaign, VVD has sent a message to Liverpool fans on his Instagram.

I’ve had a few days to reflect now at the end of what’s been an unbelievable season.

We achieved great things this season at Liverpool as a team and I feel proud to be part of such an incredible club with this group of players.

To be European Champions is a dream come true! We are all now hungry for more success and will continue to give all we can to achieve that.

I’m also excited about the future with the national team and we will look to build on the promising season we’ve just had.

Thank you for all of your support over the last few months and I’ll see you after a break ready to go again!
