Harry Wilson on target as Bournemouth beat Southampton

Bournemouth rose to third in the Premier League table on Friday evening courtesy of a 3-1 win over local rivals Southampton at St. Mary’s.

The visitors took the lead inside 10 minutes through a powerful Nathan Ake header and thought they had doubled their advantage when Josh King finished well, but his effort was chalked off by VAR.

The Cherries did get a second, though, and it was Harry Wilson who provided it, making a well-timed run into the area and slotting past Angus Gunn.

In the second half, James Ward-Prowse netted from the penalty spot to give Southampton hope but Callum Wilson took advantage of a sloppy mix-up at the back from Saints in stoppage time to make sure Bournemouth took all three points.
