Graham Smyth’s update on star man ought to settle some nerves at Leeds – opinion

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

Leeds have relied heavily on loan signings this season, and for the most part, it’s worked an absolute treat.

Many of Leeds’ best players this term have been loanees as Jack Harrison has already contributed to eight goals this term while Ben White has received all sorts of plaudits for his good performances.

Of course, the issue with relying on loanees is that they could be recalled, and while Leeds fans have been panicking about the prospect of Eddie Nketiah being brought back to Arsenal in recent weeks, one player they seemingly don’t need to worry about is Ben White.

Virtually impossible: Can you name the year all of these Leeds flops arrived at Elland Road?

Indeed, Graham Smyth gave an update on White’s future that should reassure every United fan in the country as the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist stated that Leeds would have to greenlight any attempt Brighton make to recall the centre-back.

Basically, this should mean that White remains at Elland Road for the rest of the season.

It would be an absolutely braindead decision for anyone at Leeds to give the go-ahead for White to return to the south coast, and to be honest, it would be rather foolish of Brighton to want him back.

Now, that isn’t to say that White wouldn’t be an asset for Graham Potter’s side, but the Seagulls are sitting comfortably in mid-table of the Premier League despite having a nightmare run of fixtures over the past few weeks.

Not only are Brighton doing just fine without White, but Marcelo Bielsa’s management seems to be helping the young centre-back improve week in week out.

Unless all logic is defied, Leeds should be able to keep hold of their star man until the end of the season.

In other news, Marcelo Bielsa may want to consider using one neglected man in an upcoming key clash.
