England’s Gareth Southgate on replacing Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea

Sarri Juve bound?

Maurizio Sarri has recently completed his first season in English football.

The Italian would guide Chelsea to a 3rd place finish in the Premier League table, ensuring they will play Champions League football next season.

Sarri also took Chelsea to the League Cup final, in which they lost out to Manchester City on penalties.

The ex-Napoli coach then won his first piece of silverware as Blues boss, beating Arsenal 4-1 in the 2019 Europa League final.

Despite having a pretty successful season, Sarri looks to be on his way out of Chelsea.

According to Fabrizio Romano, writing in the Guardian, Sarri is set to sign a three-year deal with Juventus.

Southgate responds to Chelsea links

With Chelsea looking like they will need a new manager before the 2019/20 season begins, England boss Gareth Southgate has been asked if he would be interested in the job.

Southgate has had a very positive impact on the Three Lions since becoming their boss, leading them to two semi-finals.

When asked if he was interested in the Chelsea job, Southgate stated:

“No. I’m committed to England, simple as that.

“I don’t need to hedge my bets in keeping doors open or keeping things alive. There’s no way that I would leave England at this moment in time, to take any job.”As quoted by the BBC.

Gareth Southgate and England will be in action on Sunday as they face Switzerland in the Nations League third-place play-off.
