Divock Origi claims his instinct told him to stay at Liverpool

Origi’s big goals

Divock Origi has never quite been able to cement himself as a regular starter for Liverpool.

Back in December of 2018, there was talk that Wolves could make a move for the Liverpool forward.

However, Origi would remain at Liverpool for the rest of the 2018/19 season and go on to score some key goals.

Origi would score the winner in the Merseyside derby back in December.

The striker also netted two in Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final comeback vs FC Barcelona.

Origi then went on to score in the 2019 CL final as Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0.

Origi on signing a new deal

After playing a key role for Liverpool throughout 2018/19, Origi signed a new long-term deal with the European Champions.

While Origi is unlikely to replace any of Liverpool’s main attacking trio, he is still a solid squad player to have.

Origi would prove this vs Norwich. He started instead of Sadio Mane, scoring one and assisting one in said game.

Now, Origi has recently spoken about him signing a new Liverpool deal, claiming it was his instinct that said he had to stay at Anfield:

“There was a point where I had to sit down and have conversations, both for me and the club, to see where we stand.

“At that point I knew the season was very intense and I had to focus on what I had to do, so I let the people who are representing me have those talks.

“But in the end, my instinct said I had to stay here. It was clear for me.

“The most important thing for me is I feel like we have a very talented group and there’s a good energy around this place.

“We still have a lot to play for and everyone here is very hungry. I want to help this team in whichever measure I can.” As quoted by Sky Sports News.
